Orientation at MIHE

Orientation is a highly interactive and informative program of welcoming, informative, social and academic activities for incoming students. All students must attend orientation as part of their first week at MIHE.

What to expect

Your first week, step by step.

Registration

Present your ID (driver's licence for domestic students; passport and visa for international students) and receive a welcome pack with the student handbook, forms and local transport information.

Photo ID

Visit the photo booth to have your Student ID Card created and issued on the spot.

Welcome Session

The Dean introduces students and presents the key staff responsible for academic and administrative support.

Services Overview

The Student Welfare and Support Officer explains campus facilities, academic skills support, library services, computer labs and counselling.

Emergency & Legal

Guest presenters cover emergency response, health services and legal resources.

Introduction to Computers

Staff verify your details, create your MIHE email account and introduce the Moodle learning platform. Official communications arrive via your institutional email.

Course Details

The Course Director covers academic integrity, course progress requirements, enrolment policies, attendance expectations and misconduct consequences.

Current students discuss clubs, social activities and campus life.

Following the Welcome Session, the Student Welfare and Support Officer will further inform students about campus facilities, support services and resources available — such as academic skills support, library services, computer lab, counselling and personal wellbeing services that are available to them.

A guest presenter — preferably Police or someone from Legal services — will address the students and discuss emergency, health services and legal services.

Getting here — transport

Transport System information and maps regarding trains, trams and buses accessible within walking distance of the campus are provided. Bell station is just a five-minute walk from MIHE.

When is orientation?

Orientation for the 2026 intake is scheduled for 15 January 2026. A signed record of attendance and participation, in the form of an induction checklist, is kept on each student's file. Check the Academic Calendar for the latest dates.
